With your help, the Marine Resources Council enlisted 695 volunteers who picked up 8,726 pounds of trash and debris from 41 miles of Indian River Lagoon shorelines in a few hours on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Thank you so very much for cleaning up our estuary!

Kids for Conservation

Inspiring the Next Generation of Lagoon Stewards

One of our primary goals for the Coastal Cleanup is to foster “Kids for Conservation” and inspire the next generation of Lagoon Stewards. The most exciting data collected was that we had more youth participation in the Cleanup than ever before!

It is our hope that children who invest in conservation efforts will continue to protect our environment as adults. Based on the outcome of this day, we are incredibly hopeful for the future.

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, teachers, club leaders, coaches, and schools for chaperoning your “Kids for Conservation” at the MRC Coastal Cleanup.
