MRC's Low Impact Living logo

Low Impact Living builds on the principles of Low Impact Development by adding citizen action to allow Lagoon-friendly living on all scales: individual, family, community, and municipality.

MRC has been a vocal champion of Low Impact Development — environmentally sustainable land development strategies — since we hosted our first LID conference in 2021. Low Impact Living builds on the principle of Low Impact Development by adding citizen action to allow for Lagoon-friendly living on all scales: individual, family, community, and government.

There are four parts to the Low Impact Living initiative:
Educating, Empowering, Advocating, and Demonstrating.

Educating the Public: MRC's Low Impact Living

Educating the public relies on consistent and clear messaging presented in person and online; our focus is stressing achievable actions that make a positive impact.

Empowering Citizens: MRC's Low Impact Living

We are empowering citizens by providing them with the knowledge and resources needed to advocate for meaningful change within their own community and governmental organizations.

Advocating for Change: MRC's Low Impact Living

In addition to community action, MRC is teaming up with industry partners to advocate for Low Impact Development enforcement through legislation and land development codes.

Demonstrating How To: MRC's Low Impact Living

Lastly, we are utilizing properties owned and managed by MRC across the region to demonstrate how to implement Low Impact Living principles and actions.
